“If a tool is dull and no one sharpens its edge, the work will be harder; the advantage of wisdom is this: it brings success. [Ecclesiastes 10:10 – The Voice]”
No matter what tools you are using. You may have the latest gadgets or equipment, all these do not ensure success. The above bible verse says if you want success you need wisdom. But how do you get wisdom? Just ask God.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him [James 1:5 – NKJV]“
But not everyone who asks God gets wisdom, is it? Here we are talking about people who are in a relationship with God. People who are willing to listen, surrender and obey God. There will be some unlearning to do and we ought to be willing to unlearn the wisdom of this world.
Let me give an example. The world tells you to hoard up your wealth now and you will have plenty left for old age. Now, look at this scripture “Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. [Proverbs 11:24 – NLT]”. It’s clear that it is not in the spending for self that you get wealthy, but rather in the giving to others. The principle is quite simple, you give out of God’s love to others with a heart of concern for them and God takes care of your every need.
So learning from and obeying God is wisdom and wisdom brings success. We’ll look closer at success and prosperity in the next post.
