The Stereogram Effect

Take a look at this picture. Click on it to enlarge. What do you see?

Do you just see random patterns of color and nothing else? Well, there’s more to it that just random colors. This is a stereogram. Google ‘stereogram’ and you will know a lot more than I can tell you in this post. But to answer the question, well it’s a 3D image of a teapot. You may not be able to see it unless you know the technique of viewing it. How about trying another? Look at this one.

This is a 3D image of an elephant raising its trunk. One more? OK.

It’s the shape of a heart. The point is that no matter how hard you try to look into the image, all you’ll see is colors and patterns. But once you learn the technique of viewing stereograms you will see 3D images in them and believe me some of them are really awesome.

The important thing about the technique is you should know how and where to focus on the image, only then you begin to see depth in the image and slowly the entire image appears to have 3D imagery although the color remains the same as the background. Then you can begin to identify the object in the image and know what it is all about.

Well, religion is much like the 2D image that everyone sees, some may get fascinated by the colors, some of the patterns they can see but there’s really nothing more to it. But when we begin to make our relationship with Jesus the focus, everything takes on a new meaning. There is a purpose for yourself and you begin to see it. There is depth in the life of a born again believer. It’s no longer a matter of just fulfilling laws and rules of religion. In fact, you now have freedom from it and are led by the Holy Spirit who teaches you to walk in the spirit and not run after the desires of the flesh. Before being born again, I thought that living in the spirit would be a boring life as compared to walking in the flesh. How wrong was I? If you know how to see the stereograms above then tell me which is more interesting? The 2D image that everyone can see or the 3D image that has depth.

So let us keep our focus on Jesus and live a more meaningful and fulfilling life through an intimate relationship with God.

[Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV] “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Leaving you with one more image. See if you can spot it.
