Though we are ALL sinners…“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” [Rom 3:23 NLT]
Yet Jesus Christ came for ALL sinners so that sin could no longer hold us captives. “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.” [Titus 2:11 NLT]
God prepared a salvation plan for ALL mankind through Jesus’ sacrifice“He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.” [1 John 2:2 – NLT]
So… what is this grace?“For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” [John 1:17 NKJV]“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” [John 1:17 NKJV]
Jesus Christ is the revelation of God’s grace. He was the fullness of God’s grace that appeared in flesh, so that salvation could be made available to ALL men.
Sin has no dominion over us“For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.” [Rom 6:14 – NKJV]
If we try to be under the law… guess what?“You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.” [Gal 5:4 – NIV]
Instead if we are justified by grace we have eternal life…”so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” [Titus 3:7 – NIV]
Grace is God’s provision for us, let us remain under grace and not try to be justified by the law.
What then, is God’s law wrong? No, never (see Gal 3:21-23), instead God’s law shows us that even when we try our best we fail (See James 2:10). So we need God in our lives and we need His grace.
Without God’s grace there is no hope for mankind. A person may have any amount of faith, commitment or devotion to God; it is God’s grace that was the first step towards the salvation of mankind. Without that step it would have been impossible for mankind to be saved.
However, having said that, grace alone does not bring us salvation.“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” [Ephesians 2:8 – NIV]
Clearly this shows that salvation is not of ourselves or our ability, it is the gift of God.
Now as I mentioned earlier, because of God’s grace we have the provision of salvation. But, in order to access this provision, we need to use our faith and only then can we receive God’s grace into our lives.“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.” [Romans 5:1-2 – NIV]
So what then is faith; is it from man?“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” [Romans 10:17 – KJV]
Faith is a gift from God and we can receive it only when our spiritual ears receive the Word of God.
How does this gift of faith differ from faith that is not of God?“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” [Hebrews 11:1 – KJV].
Faith does not mean believing in something that does not exist, but in fact it is indeed the substance of the truth which already exists though it remains unseen (or unperceived by our senses). This is the same faith of Christ, which is given to us by “the” measure that God gave to all.“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” [Romans 12:3 – KJV].“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” [Gal 2:20 – KJV]
Now you will understand why any person who possesses this faith will please God, because this gift is the faith of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Isn’t it an awesome gift?“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” [Hebrews 11:6 – NLT]
Jesus Christ the Son of God, is the author of our faith“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” [Hebrews 12:2 – KJV]
This faith is not like ordinary faith, but is precious“Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ” [2 Peter 1:1 – NKJV]
This is the faith that helps us overcome everything in this world. Aren’t you glad?“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” [1 John 5:4 – NKJV]
